Consent Layer

Systems · Digital, media and martech-heavy agencies

Built and demonstrable — not something we offer to deploy. The walkthrough below is real and worth two minutes. Why, and what to use instead, is set out on the systems page.

A client’s website is not one company’s code. It is your build, the media team’s pixels, a chat widget, a personalisation tool, and whatever those load in turn — twenty or thirty vendors, most added by somebody who does not work on the site. Consent Layer watches what actually fires, checks it against the approved list and the consent policy, and names the team that added it.

Who it is for

Digital and media agencies accountable for client properties they do not solely control, and in-house teams whose tag manager has more contributors than owners. It matters most where campaign tags are added quickly and removed never.

Why we do not sell it

We do not. Consent management has a free tier at one end and a company worth several billion at the other, and the tag-governance layer is already held by a credible specialist. The problem is entirely real — when the ICO tested the UK’s top 1,000 websites, 585 initially failed and 564 of those were put right only after the ICO made contact. We simply are not the right people to sell you the answer to it.

What the retainer covers

Tags are added weekly, vendors load other vendors without telling anyone, and consent requirements and enforcement expectations move. The retainer covers watching each property continuously, keeping the approved list current, and chasing what appears on it uninvited.

When the ICO tested the UK’s top 1,000 websites, 585 initially failed — and 564 of those were put right only after the ICO made contact. Almost every one had reached compliance once, as a project, and then let it decay as a condition. That is the pattern this is built against.

The walkthrough above uses a fictional organisation and illustrative figures. No client data appears anywhere.

Building this under your own name?

Most of what we build is deployed by agencies and consultancies under their own brand. We stay behind it.
